on:
. In Feb 1992 A National Seminar on The Earth Summit and Environmental
Challenges for Sustainable Development in Sierra Leone
. 1994 – 2000 Outreach Human Ecology and the Environment a series of
broadcasters by local experts to create awareness of ecology issues with
a view to involving listeners in the action for sustainable development
. 1996 to date An Agro –Forestry Community based Project on 34,7acres of
leased land at Grafton, 2 miles from the city of Freetown for the
cultivation of vegetable gardens and fruit trees to alleviate poverty
and the establishment of Trees Nurseries to provide seeding for
reforestation of degraded hillsides.
. A Displaced Women ‘s, Youth, and Community based Project at GRAFTON –
ONGOING
. Workshop in Agriculture and Skills Training ongoing
. Case Studies, Survey and Research ongoing

About CHEC-SIL
CHECSIL was launched on the 13th the, February 1990 by the Head of
States. The idea for setting up this organization originated from a
conference hosted by the Commonwealth Human Ecology Council in Edinburgh
Scotland in July 1989.
MEMBERSHIP is
open to all Sierra Leonean who are interested in Human Responsibility
for the protection of the Environment for Sustainable development who
subscribe to the objective of CHECSIL.
