Long before E-Mail, Television,
Radio and Telephones; Even before Telegraphs, people in Africa spoke
to one another across great distance, through special beats of
drums. Announcements of births, deaths, celebrations or whatever
news mattered to a community was sent from village to village by the
voice of a drum. Today, however, with every communication devices
available to mankind, it seems perhaps that some of our passion for
conversation has been lost. Perhaps we are in such a hurry dealing
with our overloaded lives and have become so casual about our easy
access to the world that the heart of meaningful talk is missing. We
call our program Talking Drum "The African Voice" in hopes of
imparting the kind of genuine caring of neighbor to neighbor that
was expressed so long ago in the messages of a simple drum.
